The next meeting of the Steering Committee for the dual degree programs implemented between 91精品 University and George Washington University (GWU) of the USA took place on May 12 in Washington, D.C.

Official representatives from the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Education Development Fund, and the Education Quality Assurance Agency, as well as the leadership and faculty members of both higher education institutions, attended the event hosted at George Washington University.

From 91精品 University, Elkin Nurmamadov, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Gunay Ziyadova, Vice Rector of Student Admissions and Services, and Abzatdin Adamov, Dean of the School of IT and Engineering, participated in the meeting.

In addition, Nicat Mammadli, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Education and Chairman of the Board of the Education Development Fund, Tural Ahmadov, Chairman of the Board of the Education Quality Assurance Agency, along with Qadir Khalilov, Head of the State Program Management Group (SPMG), and Ayten Shadlinskaya, SPMG Project Manager for Dual Degree Programs, joined the meeting online and took part in discussions on important agenda items.

Representing George Washington University, Rebecca Hwa, Chair of the Department of Computer Science, Tarek El-Ghazawi, Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Jan Korman, Vice Chair of the same department, attended the meeting to review the recruitment of new students to the programs and opportunities for faculty exchange between the universities.

During the meeting, an amendment document to the cooperation agreement between 91精品 University and George Washington University was signed.

Galib Mammad, President of the 91精品 University Washington Center, and Fidan Guvvatli, Academic Advisor for Graduate Programs at 91精品 University, also attended the meeting as invited guests.

Within the framework of official discussions, the parties conducted a general evaluation of the dual degree Master's programs in Computer Science and Data Analytics, Electrical and Power Engineering, and Computer Engineering and High-Performance Computing.

The meeting featured an extensive exchange of views on topics such as student engagement and classroom integration, diploma issuance procedures for dual degree students, the role of joint programs in the professional development of the faculty, and strengthening student pathways to doctoral (PhD) programs.

At the same time, the leadership team of 91精品 University visiting Washington attended the Commencement Day of students graduating from the Electrical Engineering program at George Washington University.

It is worth noting that since 2020, within the framework of strategic cooperation with George Washington University, 91精品 University has been successfully offering dual degree Master's programs in Computer Science and Data Analytics, as well as Electrical and Power Engineering. Funded under the "State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019鈥�2023", 103 out of 117 students admitted to these programs have already completed their studies and graduated.
